On September 27, 2012, ASMP presented an important new symposium titled Sustainable Business Models: Issues and Trends Facing Visual Artists. The all-day event featured imaging professionals who are responding to new economic realities by adapting their business models.
On April 21, 2010, ASMP presented Copyright and the New Economy: Issues and Trends Facing Visual Artists. Through individual presentations and a panel discussion, the group addressed the sweeping changes in the way images are used and distributed in this digital age. Our speakers came from different vantage points, but they were in agreement that the present copyright system is out of sync with today's ease of information copying and sharing. The panelists offered differing and personal views on how independent creators can realize appropriate compensation for their work.
